About Us
A place that remembers how to be quiet
Lake Shokakana Family Resort has been welcoming travelers to Channahon for years — families on the way through, couples looking for a weekend away, fishermen and hikers who know the value of a good basecamp.
We don't do minibars or concierge desks. What we do is keep the rooms clean, the grounds peaceful, and the front desk friendly. If you need something, we'll help. If you don't, you won't notice us — and that's the point.
Channahon sits between Starved Rock and the Illinois River, which means you're close to some of the best hiking, boating, and history in the region. But you come back to a resort that doesn't compete with the outdoors — it just lets you enjoy them.
The Area
Surrounded by water and trails
Channahon is a gateway to some of northern Illinois' most rewarding outdoor experiences — and our resort is positioned right at the center of it.
Starved Rock State Park
Illinois' most visited state park, with 18 named canyons, waterfalls, and miles of trails — a 15-minute drive away.
Illinois River
Boating, fishing, and kayaking on one of the state's largest waterways — just minutes from the resort.
Channahon Community
Local diners, shops, and the Starved Rock State Park Visitor Center are all within easy reach.
